RECENT GARDEN PHOTOS

 

 

We live in the Houston area, which gives us extended growing time but often the weather is too harsh. Some fruits and veggies can be planted and will germinate successfully outdoors; some we have to start inside and transplant once they're established. Some wither away in the Texas heat, some get pummeled to death by hurricanes.

 

Like I said, the weather can be too harsh.

 

We like to use AeroGarden pods for the leafy greens and Jiffy Windowsill Greenhouse kits to start most others that can't take the outdoors right away. AeroGardens are also great for growing your own small fruits and veggies if you have no yard space or live in too harsh a climate for any outdoor gardening.

 

This year I added some crushed eggshell, a little fertilizer, and a fat bag of potting soil to the beds. That's about all the prep work I'm willing to do!
